Our new office building and facilities comprise of a full mechanical, designed and installed system package. The works on both the development site and within the existing Prison are to provide the infrastructure foundation for new house blocks and existing buildings. The works were phased, in conjunction with a number of other contracts to allow for the completion of other associated projects. The provision of a new electrical intake substation, replacement 11KV switchgear, associated HV cabling and jointing. Including the safe transfer of loads and decommissioning of the existing main intake substation.
Supply and installation of a new 11kV supply from the main intake substation to the new HV switchgear located within the new containerised package substation. Supply and installation of a containerised package substation including 1no. 200A 11kV circuit breaker and 1no. 1000kVA transformer, new acoustically treated generator set c/w bulk fuel tank to serve the new house blocks, future workshops and other ancillary building developments. Within the LV section of the package substation a new low voltage switchboard comprising main and generator incoming ACB’s metering, outgoing fuse switches, power factor correction equipment. Also located within the new package substation shall be a low voltage security systems panel board to serve the proposed external lighting and future CCTV installations. Supply and installation of LV Cabling to the new house blocks and future buildings outgoing from the new containerised package substation.
Extension of the existing building energy management communication carriage network system to all new and proposed future buildings. The provision of a containerised network system for various alarms, including Fire, General and Cell Call. The provision of cross-site telephone cabling from the main PABX room to the new house blocks (Pin Phones)The provision of a complete Earthing system for all new works. Supply and installation, of new development site modifications to the current external lighting system. The mechanical infrastructure installation works has consisted of the provision of new gas, cold water and fire fighting mains supplies to the new prison house blocks, existing and future buildings both internal and external of the prison.
GAS INSTALLATION
A replacement gas meter has been installed and a new 250mm underground MDPE pipework system has been installed and commissioned throughout the prison complex.
MAINS COLD WATER INSTALLATION
A new complete mains cold water system has been installed from the local water authorities supply and feeds the complete prison complex.
FIRE FIGHTING MAINS SUPPLY
A new complete fire mains installation has been installed throughout the prison, which includes fire hydrants and connection to sprinkler installations. The main office area has both heating and cooling facilities. The heating and hot water is provided from a fully compensates, condensing, and energy efficient combination gas boiler. The heating is supplied by a radiator system, which again is energy efficient with local control with the use of thermostatic radiator valves. The cooling system consists of a main chiller plant unit, which serves individual ceiling cassette cooling units throughout the ground and first floor office area which all have individual remote control facilities. The store and archive areas have warm air heating which is served via a main gas-fired warm air heater. The office also provides full WC (including disabled) and kitchen facilities for the staff and visitors. The sanitary ware has been kindly provided by Twyfords and the kitchen water boiler has been kindly supplied by ZIP water heaters.
Gill & Wilkinson Ltd were commissioned to design, supply, install, test and commission a new automatic fire detection aspiration system to the group central warehouses in Leeds. The system comprises of a two loop analogue addressable system to each building level which interfaces with the main site fire alarm systems. Our system has 27 No. cirrus pro-sampling panels situated throughout the C level floor of the warehouse area. These panels sample air continuously through 4500 metres of 25mm pipework which are installed in the apex of each North Light bay
Gill & Wilkinson Ltd have been involved with the installation of jewellery outlets into ASDA Stores at various locations throughout the UK. Works include new lighting raft installation, clean and dirty power and point of sale signage.
The B & Q Regeneration Program concentrates on upgrading current Superstores.
Each store has an initial survey carried out where the partnering companies can each raise issues on producing a quality upgraded installation whilst maintaining budget cost. This includes upgrading the mains distribution, and installing new lighting, busbars and fire alarm system installations.
Planning and co-ordination are essential as each project has a programme of 8 weeks.
Gill & Wilkinson Ltd have recently completed B & Q Superstores at Whetstone, Wakefield and Dunfermline. Our company is currently carrying out the survey and design for 9 No. more stores during this year. Gill & Wilkinson Ltd carried out all the works consistent with the refurbishment of a 3 storey plus basement, grade 2 listed building into a learning facility for local student residences. This project consisted of a full; design, supply, installation, test and commissioning of a complete electrical, mechanical and plumbing service.
The electrical services comprised of the installation of a new main switchgear panel located in the basement area, sub mains and local distribution boards, general power system utilising mainly multi-compartment dado trunkings. The lighting installation is a system of high frequency, low energy fittings either of a recessed or surface application. The building and occupant are protected by a fully monitored addressable fire alarm system interlinked to the mechanical services and door controls. A number of intruder systems are installed to cover sensitive areas. A comprehensive IT system has been installed with a fibre optic backbone.
The electrical and mechanical services were carried out to the new meeting room areas.
The mechanical services consisted of 3 wall-mounted boilers, 2 to feed the heating systems and 1 for the hot water services. The ventilation systems comprised of an air-conditioning system and toilet extract system, these are all controlled by a purpose built control panel.
The main hall lighting consists of a system of suspended lighting tracks with a number of feature spotlights to enhance the existing feature stonework of the existing cathedral building together with an emergency lighting installation. New mains switchgear was also installed.
Our building services works for the Lancashire Wildlife Trust comprised of the full electrical and mechanical installation to the new offices and information centre. The project was based on an environmental sustainable installation, the main plant items being; woodchip burning boiler, solar heating panels, wind catches for ventilation, grey water installation, high frequency lighting control gear and low energy lamps.
As part of Gill & Wilkinson Ltd diversity strategy policy the company has successfully secured the electrical and mechanical services installations for Bradford Metropolitan Council Homes.
The project works comprised of the construction of a 2 storey 8 bedroom building to facilitate local children. Each house has all the modern facilities of any normal modern home; each bedroom has a number of power outlets, TV outlet and TRV controlled radiator. There is a general lounge area / communal area, along with kitchen facilities and bath / shower rooms. On the ground floor is a central security office enclosing the house CCTV, intruder and entry systems. The remote boiler room contains the house heating system and main electrical switch room. The first to be built was Allerton Children’s home which was successfully completed on time to high standard throughout.
